Hi there! We’re Michelle and Tom—semi-retired, active, former big-city dwellers who fled DC’s traffic, politics, and overpriced coffee for the wide-open spaces of rural New England. Now, our biggest city problem is deciding which trail to hike first…or which dog, Sadie or Jackie, gets the first cookie.

Many of our adventures, though, take us far from our quiet country roads—to Europe, where the hills are bigger, the wine flows more freely, and the pastries come with zero judgment for eating three in a row. We love skiing (even when our knees have opinions), hiking (which keeps us honest about our life choices), sailing (whenever the wind feels cooperative), and cycling until we’re reminded that cell service is a luxury and our GPS (or lack of) likes to keep things interesting.

This blog is about the real fun of travel—the unexpected concerts in tiny Italian churches, cheese wheels so big they deserve a zip code, cobblestone streets that ruin your shoes but not your mood, and the more-than-occasional “oops” moments that make great stories later.

If you like European adventures, good food, outdoor chaos, and dogs who think they’re in charge (and sometimes are), you’re in the right place. Pull up a chair, grab a glass of wine, and join us as we explore the world…without ever fully giving up our love for country living.
